About the Story

Originally a story told through felt, Sydney the Scarecrow has been brought to life right in the palm of your hands! Sydney the Scarecrow is about a scarecrow that protects the farmer’s pumpkins. As the animals and birds try to enter the pumpkin patch, Sydney shoos them away. In this app, you and your child help tell the story. Tapping on certain characters when prompted continues Sydney’s tale.

Educational Value

We wanted to create an app that is entertaining, engaging, and most of all educational. Some teaching tools you’ll find in Sydney the Scarecrow are: progressing through a sequential chain of events, reading and listening comprehension through repetition and prompts, animal identification, color recognition, and the characteristics of friendship.
